|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*| LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF VIRGINIA APPOINTS NEW OFFICERS The Libertarian Party of Virginia (LPVA) met in Sandston on Saturday (March 5, 2016), and elected officers to its State Central Committee (SCC) for the 2016-2018 term. Bo Brown of Chesterfield County was installed to fill the Party's chairmanship. Brown works in real estate and accounting, and was the 4th district candidate for congress in 2014. Andy Bakker was elected as vice chairman and calls the city of Alexandria home. Bakker is a law student at George Mason Law and currently also serves the Libertarian Party as the chairman of the Northern Virginia Libertarians local chapter. He is also a frequent contributor at the "Freedom Gulch" human rights blog and is an active VĂ©loCity Co-op Volunteer. James Curtis of Henrico County was re-elected as Treasurer. Curtis is a Senior Manager at a Richmond area public accounting firm. He is active with the UVA Club of Richmond and the Marine Corps League. Marc Montoni of Rockingham County was re-elected as Secretary. Montoni owns rental real estate and is a stay-at-home dad to three children. Montoni has been active in the Libertarian Party since Election Eve 1980 and is a contributor to IndependentPoliticalReport.com and the Libertarian Party Radical Caucus. The SCC is the policymaking and administrative authority of the LPVA. It is composed of the LPVA officers and the Chairs of the 11 Congressional District Committees. In addition to the officers, Corey Fauconier of the city of Richmond was tapped as the group's new Communications Director. Fauconier works as a Public Relations Specialist helping independent musicians, small business owners and non profits alike. He also volunteers with Concerned Black Men (Richmond, Virginia) Lloyd C. Bird High School Alumni Foundation (Chesterfield County, Virginia), and The Redemption Center (Richmond, Virginia). The Libertarian Party was founded in 1971; growing to become the third largest political party in the US. There are over 400 Libertarians serving in public office nationwide, more than twice as many all other third parties combined.
