The Apache Maven team is pleased to announce the release of the Apache
Maven Checkstyle Plugin, version 3.1.1

The Checkstyle Plugin generates a report regarding the code style used by

This version of the plugin uses Checkstyle 8 by default, requires
Java 8 and it does not support Checkstyle 6 anymore.

You should specify the version in your project's plugin configuration:
