Dear mIRC User,

mIRC version 6.11 has been released, friday October 10th, 2003. You are
receiving this email because you have subscribed to the mIRC release mailing
list. The new version of mIRC is available from http://www.mirc.com/ and
from all fast mirrors around the world. We have also provided a few download
addresses below.

With this new release we hope to address most the comments, requests and
remarks we received after the release of version 6.1. Of course this new
version fixes lots of the small but nevertheless annoying buggies found in
the previous version. Several new features and functions have been
implemented, a multitude of things have improved. Enough reason to upgrade!

* How to upgrade?

As you know mIRC is distributed in a self-extracting cabinet (mirc611.exe)
that helps you to install mIRC on your PC. Simply download the cabinet and
run the installer. Follow the instructions the installer program gives to
you. When upgrading all your old settings and scripts will stay as they
were, if you want that. Read the questions the installer program asks with
care and nothing can go wrong. You will be chatting with the new mIRC in no
time. If you get stuck or if you want to find out more about a certain
feature, just click on a Help button or browse the Help file and you should
find lots of hints to help you out. We also give some information on
changed, improved and fixed features and functions below.

the like. It also includes a tutorial on Aliases, Popups and on
'programming' the Tools/Remote section.

* Shareware.

As you might know mIRC is shareware. It can be downloaded freely and
evaluated for 30 days. Assuming you find that you enjoy using mIRC, and you
continue to use it, you have to register your copy. This licenses you to
keep your copy of mIRC and it supports our continued work on mIRC. Khaled
offers a one time registration, which works with all future versions of
mIRC. You will never need to register again.

* Fixes, improvements and new features.

Several commands have been fixed or improved, like the /fwrite, /hdec,
/mkdir, /qmsg, /qme, /color, /hload, /hsave and /server not using the
specified port. Lots of identifiers have been fixed, among them
$duration(N,3), $base(), $os, $comcall(), $dllcall(), $md5() and $mask().
This also fixes a possible /userhost exploit problem.
A channel folders join bug where mIRC wasn't setting focus on a channel
window properly was fixed, as well as a a small problem with the red dot in
remote toolbar button, bugs with binary variables, duplicate separators in
popup menus and a menu handling bug that affected the favorites popup menu
as well as various other menus under Windows 95 and NT. Over 40 thingies,
all fixed :)

While we tried to focus on fixing things, of course some new features and
functions have been added. Among them

- the language selection option that has been added to the MS Agent speech
dialog. You must of course have the required language component installed.
  Read more on http://www.mirc.co.uk/agents.html,

- the Favorites folder that now allows multiple selection. You can now join
multiple channels, or folders with channels!, at a time,

- a nifty new feature that has been added to allow you to auto-hide the list
with nicknames in a channel. See the nick list options in the System Menu
  of each channel...

As you see - heaps of changes and improvements. Lots of little and larger
changes to smoothen your IRC experience. You'll have to dig through the help
file and the list below to get hold of the complete list of changes and
their impact. If you have questions, may we invite you to the message boards
on mIRC's website? These discussion forums offer great help with everything
related to mIRC and its features.

Thanks for using mIRC, lots of fun on IRC,

Tjerk Vonck.

This mIRC release mailing list is a low volume, low frequency announcement
list. Typically you will get one message right after each mIRC release, only
a few times a year. The last time was in August 2003. The list is not a
discussion list, there is only one person posting; me - the listmaster of
mIRC Co. Ltd. We will not use or abuse this list for other messages. It is
very easy to get removed from this list. Just use the unsubscribe form found
on the mailing lists page on the mIRC website.
