Topics
*Virtualization with VMware*
The name "VMware" comes from the acronym "VM", meaning "virtual
machine", while "ware" comes from second part of "software". VMware has
been around for several years now and can help you in development,
testing and deployment of your ColdFusion applications. With VMware, you
can completely virtualize a server or workstation and run it like an
application on a host system. For example, you can use VMware to run
multiple server instances on one physical machine. This can greatly
improve your work in situations like testing an application against a
new version of ColdFusion. During the presentation, we'll show how
VMware can be installed and configured. Some of the common pitfalls and
how it can benefit you as a developer.
*CF101 - Variable Scoping*
Do you use variable scoping in your CFML or CFC coding? Do you know the
costs and benefits of scoping? In this month's edition of CF 101 we will
explore the various variable scopes found in ColdFusion and how to use
them. Improper scoping happens to be one of the biggest mistakes found
in web development. So knowing this basic feature can greatly improve
your applications and help avoid some costly problems. CF 101 is a
series of presentations where we explore a fundemental feature of
ColdFusion which can help developers of any skill level.
