Ever wonder who you should contact to make sure that your Broadband Coverage
is recognized in your state's mapping efforts? WISPA, with the help of the
NTIA Mapping Team has compiled a list of contacts for each state. It is
becoming more and more important that Wireless Internet Service Providers
participate in State Broadband Efforts. As Broadband Stimulus funding
becomes available and areas presumed to be uncovered are funded, it may be
too late for your data to do much good.

State Broadband Coordinators are often contacted by residents looking for
Broadband Service. If a WISP has not contacted the State Mapping project
and provided this information, the resident is often turned away with a
response of "We are sorry, there are no Broadband Providers in your area,
please check back later". Realistically, many WISPs cover areas where
cable, DSL and fiber deployments are not affordable to build to. The WISP
community needs to do a better job reporting and marketing their services.
The State can be your friend and companion in this effort but they need to
know where your service exists.

For a complete listing of State Broadband Mapping contacts, go to

own state broadband coordinator to participate on the [email protected]
mailing list. Use the tools that WISPA provides to improve the business
landscape in your state. A complete listing of state mailing lists can be
found at http://www.wispa.org/?page_id=9.
