Forbes,
John Reasbeck and I are interested in attending. ________________________ Rusty Irvin From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Forbes Mercy Sent: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 7:07 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [WISPA Announcements] WISPA's 1st Advocacy Day in DC - Last Call Deadline Today WISPA is planning a two-day session on May 16-17, 2012 in Washington D.C. to help advance the WISPA message to our elected leaders and key government officials. The program will train WISPs on the important messaging points, strategies and tactics needed to effectively communicate our message. This event is being planned under the leadership of WISPA's Legislative Committee but will also include meetings with FCC staff. Recognizing that hotel expenses are very high in the D.C. area, the WISPA board will pay for two nights (15th and 16th) for up to 10 members that agree to participate in the Advocacy Day. Priority will be given to members who provide service in legislative districts where key members of the House and Senate Commerce Committee reside. Members of WISPA's board will also be present at this event. Participants will need to cover their own airfare and other expenses. As this date is fast approaching and reservations for food, lodging and other logistics must be reserved, we have set a deadline of April 10th to sign up. We will accept participation from more than 10, but will only subsidize the hotel room for 10 participants. We will keep the total number of participants under 25 in order to efficiently train and deploy our members. If subsidized members choose to stay an additional night we have reserved limited space so you may obtain our negotiated price, but there are numerous large conventions taking place in D.C. that week and we were almost unable to reserve the rooms we needed. This will certainly not be the last of these, but this is the first therefore we will learn a lot from this first experience. Here are the facts: Location: Sheraton Crystal City, Virginia Airport: Shuttle service provided to and from Reagan National Airport (DCA) Room Cost: $289/night This event was announced at the board session at ISP America and several participants have already signed up. I assume that the 10 subsidized rooms will be taken in the first week of April. As previously mentioned, WISPA members from relevant Commerce Committee districts will have first priority. WISPA has been working in D.C. steadily over the past years to establish connections that you as individuals may have difficulty meeting with and likewise as a member of a key district you may help us to get into the door of someone we may not have been able to reach previously. This is a win-win for WISPA and your future as WISPs. Please respond soon to [email protected]. Thank you, Forbes Mercy - VP/Legislative Chair
