I would like to recognize Joe Miller of DSLbyAir, Ted Parsons of Sky Frequency and Greg Adams of ECom Direct for their assistance in setting up a meeting for Mississippi Wisps. This is the first meeting of Mississippi WISPs and will be held at the Forrest County Extension Service in Hattiesburg on December 12th.
The meeting is also being coordinated with the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the Southern Rural Development Center and the Governor's office. We will be featuring speakers from the Mississippi State Government, Mississippi State University, the USDA and others too be announced. Mississippi has several programs to watch including the GoCoast 2020 program and the e-BEAT initiative to encourage Broadband Adoption throughout Mississippi. WISPs in Mississippi as in many parts of the country, work very hard to assure the residents in their communities are enabled with the opportunities presented by broadband, no matter where they live. Vested in their communities, these entrepreneurs are Broadband Champions for many consumers, who otherwise would remain unserved. WISPA is happy to be a part of this meeting. Very productive things come out of these localized meetings, including networking with local government officials and university faculty as well as building relationships between WISPs that build better economies of scale and better leveraged opportunities. Vendor Sponsorships are available and a table will be provided for $250. See the full tentative agenda and committed attendees at http://www.wispa.org/2012-mississippi-wisp-meeting. <http://www.wispa.org/where-there-is-a-wisp-there-is-a-way> Where there is a Wisp, there is a way!
