WISPA will be holding its Third Washington DC Advocacy Day on September 17th and 18th. This is an excellent opportunity to represent the WISP industry while educating your congressional representatives and senators and their staffs about the hard work your company and the industry does each day on behalf of building ubiquitous broadband in the United States.
Obviously, your business and others like yours have daily challenges. It is imperative that we educate our political representatives on the fine work we do with the political and regulatory challenges we each face. While our competition (cable, fiber, Telco and satellite) spend great sums of money to lobby against our industry, we can make valuable impacts with grassroots efforts such as Advocacy Day. The staffs of congressional offices are often looking for experts in the broadband industry to get varying opinions than those presented by our competition. This is an excellent chance to build a relationship now that could pay back large dividends down the road. Advocacy Day is hosted and organized by the WISPA Legislative Committee. WISPA is proud to facilitate the Wisp industry message in Washington, D.C. Every person has the ability to make a difference. We thank past Advocacy Day representatives and recognize that their time, voice and efforts are instrumental in future progress for our industry. WISPA members selected to participate will visit up to six Congressional offices and may also meet with the FCC or NTIA staff. Every WISP has a story to tell and this is your opportunity to tell it to an audience that cares! Broadband impacts all consumers in all corners of the US and nearly all congressional representatives have those challenging areas where Wisps are the only broadband option. We are seeking 12 WISP representatives for this fall's trip. Please email [email protected] with your name, address, email address, cell number, company name and the legislative district you reside in or your business operates in. Also, please let us know if you need financial assistance with travel and lodging costs. We need these applications in the next week, so final decisions can be made and flights/lodging can be booked economically. Sponsorships: WISPA is seeking up to 4 vendor sponsorships of Advocacy Day to offset our meal costs. Each meal sponsorship is $500. We also have an Event Sponsorship available for $2000. The Event Sponsor can send a representative to meet with staff at the FCC or Congress to field your concerns. WISPA will facilitate this meeting and will accompany the sponsor as requested. We need more credibility and input from our manufacturers and vendors as WISPA embarks on our missions. This is a great opportunity. <http://www.wispa.org/where-there-is-a-wisp-there-is-a-way> Where there is a Wisp, there is a way! <http://www.cvent.com/d/xcqthv> Join Us at WISPAPALOOZA 2013 - Las Vegas, Oct 12-18 Respectfully, Rick Harnish Executive Director WISPA 260-307-4000 cell 866-317-2851 Option 2 WISPA Office Skype: rick.harnish.
