To WISPA members;

Re: Election of directors to the WISPA Board of directors, and the WECAT
Board of directors.

From: Larry Schriver Sec. of the Board of Directors.

This notice is to inform our members that the Board of Directors of WISPA
and WECAT will be holding elections for new directors in July. Individual
members who would like to run for the either board can fill out application
to run for the board starting the last week of May.

WISPA Board elections

The WISPA Board sets the policies and guidelines for the WISPA organization.
Board members are elected to a two-year term. The WISPA board meets on a
monthly basis with some special meetings. Board members are expected to
attend the regular monthly meetings which are normally held online by
GoToMeeting. WISPA is a member-owned trade lobbying association. The board
oversees WISPA's activities in Washington DC, the FCC, and helps on some
state issues in states as need arises. WISPA puts a lot energy into
educating our members with webinars, state/regional meetings and our
national conferences, WISPAPOLOOZA and WISPAmerica.

WECAT Board elections

New this year, WISPA will also be conducting the elections for our disaster
relief organization WECAT (WISPA Emergency Catastrophic Action Team). Thanks
to the work of many individuals, especially Victoria Proffer, John Allen and
Rebecca Rini, this organization has now filed for a 501C3 status with the
IRS. This will make this organization a charitable organization, so
donations given to help other Wisps in a disaster situation can be tax
deductible.

Since this is the startup year for WECAT's Board of Directors, the election
process will be electing seven individuals. The normal length of a term on
the WECAT Board will be for three years. Since this is the first election
for this board, the three candidates with the highest vote count will serve
a three-year term. The next two candidates with the highest vote count will
serve a two-year term. The last two positions on the board will serve a
one-year term and will be the next two candidates in line by vote count.
Please note that the normal term for this board will be three years. Since
disasters normally don't happen very often, it was felt by the steering
committee that a three-year term might cause better continuity for the work
of this board.

The first year of this board will be very important. The new WECAT Board
will set the guidelines of the WECAT organization concerning what classifies
as a disaster for help, and how that help will be distributed. Many of the
rules for board members for WECAT are the same as for WISPA with a few
exceptions. The WECAT Board can benefit greatly from individuals who have
first responder knowledge, and from individuals like many vendors who have
the ability to understand and facilitate movement of product, and equipment
to help those in need.
