The modprobe module is part of ansible-modules-extras, which means it's a bit newer or less fleshed out than some modules.
This doesn't actually save anything but just runs the modprobe commands. So you would want to use this system and also drop something in modprobe.d. This should probably be clarified in the module notes section.
