I just checked, and the variable gets set properly, with the host's FQDN,
the same as what's in MariaDB's privilege table.
In any case, I talked to the team and we're sidestepping this issue
completely: we're just keeping the localhost and 127.0.0.1 records as those
are the ones that really matter to us right now. When we're done with this,
I'll throw more time and energy into solving our problem.
