It seems that the python on the edison is missing the syslog library, this has been part of core python for a long time and expected to be there.
Even so, I patched ansible to allow for this 'custom' setup, so as of commit c57200925f7fc3c77da9a0b671ef7328cad15d8d this should not error out anymore.
