For that case you are better off with different solutions. I would have a look at "clonezilla" or "relax and recover". As long as you are not switching the architecture (e.g. amd64 <-> arm) there rarely is a problem. Linux / Debian is not locked to a certain hardware. Sometimes you want things like /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules edited.
