http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4399 Handling failure within the buildfile ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2001-10-24 23:58 ------- You said it yourself "It's so much easier to add a target to a buildfile than writing a custom build listener..." Therefore the bug isn't that you need a "failure" attribute, but that you need build listeners to be simpler. Ant should probably ship with a set of build listeners, including the one from the FAQ. ( http://jakarta.apache.org/ant/faq.html#mail-logger ) It would appear from a quick look, that there is no technical reason why listeners couldn't be specified from within a buildfile, although I'm not sure if that is a good idea. Listeners are absolutely the correct way to send messages on failures. If they are too hard to manage, then they should be fixed. Putting in a hack like "on fail" is the wrong solution. I think this should be marked as a duplicate of 4113 (yes?)
