OK, it was due to the fact that I had defined ANT_HOME
previously to the execution of ant.
As soon as I inserted the line:

SET ANT_HOME=

At the beginning of the ant.bat file the system located
ant 1.4.1 with no problem at all.

The CLASSPATH had nothing to do with the bug.
