As a committer who uses VSS for work anyway, I could try to look after these
tasks to some extent. The second thing needed is an extensive refactoring -
they're horrible atm. I say the second as the first thing that's needed is
something I'm no good at: tests. I believe we should try to get a test suite
which can be pointed at an existing but empty VSS database and run a whole
series of tests, doing just about everything required. I'd be happy to *help*
on that front (although not until mid-April, due to various other commitments)
but I'm not the right person to design the tests, really.

Once the tests are written, I'd be happy to run them whenever they're required
and check new patches to the VSS tree.

I do sometimes wonder whether Ant itself is the right place for tasks like this
though, even in the optional package. I know I'm only saying what others have
said in the past, and it sounds like the good people designing the various Ant2
proposals are trying to make it much more modular and plug-n-play. Things like
VSS and VAJ support would be better (IMO) as small SourceForge (or whatever)
projects in their own right, with links from the Ant website.

Anyway, the offer of "hosting" tests (and looking through code - I had to do it
myself when I first got into Ant, IIRC) stands.
