Actually, just the yesterday I had a need to add if/unless support to <echo>, so I'd have to say +1 to this -- but only if the 'conditionref' is implemented, because otherwise it'd be a real PITA to include the nested <condition> for every <echo> you want to conditionally execute (and we're talking a whole lot of <echo>'s in this particular case, which is also why <if> would've been yucko [not to mention not even doable, since they're running 1.4.1]).
