http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14307 Request for additional platform-specific note re: ANT_HOME Summary: Request for additional platform-specific note re: ANT_HOME Product: Ant Version: 1.5.1 Platform: PC OS/Version: Windows NT/2K Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: Other Component: Documentation AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I think it would be extremely helpful if, following the Windows 9x note in install.html ("Installing Ant"), there was a Windows NT/2k/XP note regarding ANT_HOME as well, particularly that ANT_HOME should not have any spaces in it. If this is not a known limitation (the troubleshooting documentation that suggests that ANT_HOME shouldn't have quotation marks, which are usually used in Windows to contain pathnames with spaces, so I'm assuming that it is a known limitation), perhaps a note that using the space-free file name equivilant (e.g. c:\progra~1\jakarta-ant-1.5.1 instead of c:\program files\jakarta-ant- 1.5.1) may solve some problems could be added. (I'm running Ant 1.5.1 on a Win2k box and it took quite a bit of tweaking before I realized that this was the problem, but I also had managed to complicate matters with additional batch files calling antRun.bat and such; had this been as clear a note as the Win9x note, however, I probably would've gotten Ant running much more quickly.)
