Hello: >From time to time there have been postings on this mailing list from folks who have plugged Ant into an interactive command-line environment like beanshell or jshell.
These environments are very convenient, as you can avoid the VM "spin up" time in between Ant commands. For a large project (such as the one for which I am currently the build-script developer :) where most developers run builds from the command line, the cumulative savings can be significant. Oddly enough, I was unable to find references to a HOWTO, example, FAQ, or anything on the Jakarta site. I am very interested in hearing from those who have integrated Ant with a tool like jshell or beanshell, or rolled their own. I am willing to bet this is a FAQ, and I will volunteer to write up the results and submit them for inclusion somewhere. Of course, that is the next question-- where does this information belong? I propose that we could include it on the web site and in the documentation near the IDE/Editor integration section, and/or in the "External Tools and Tasks" section.
