As Jose Alberto Fernandez has pointed out, it would be nice also to have a basedir setting, but this doesn't rule out the ant.file.xxx property. This property is fundamental for *any* kind of import usage. If I import a file and that file needs to get a resource *relative to himself* he cannot, because it's treated as part of the original file.
