Would you be able to try out a 1.6 Nightly build. I think it will probably fix
this for you. If so, the fix will be in Ant 1.5.2

This has a lot to do with how the <java> task works to make the class being
execute think it is in its own VM. It is not a perfect illusion. The best
workaround in Ant 1.5.1 is, as you've discovered, to use fork="yes".
