OK, so we should have different setups for them. Maybe even different tasks, so we don't overload too much? <sshexec command="..."/> and <ssh ...> <read>...</read> <write>...</write> </ssh> they could share a common base class (even with scp, I guess) that would cover the authentication stuff.
