First, I would suggest using SourceSafe Admin to verify that the
user/password is correct - these are not linked to the NT
usernames/passwords. After that, I'm not sure. This task works for a lot
of people so it would seem to be a configuration issue on your end.
As to using remove servers, I believe there are two ways to access
remote servers. The first is to alter your local ss.ini file so that it
redirects to the remote ss.ini (see SS Help for more). The second is to set
the environment variable SS_INI to the location of the remote file, again
see SS Help for more.

Subject: Opening a sourcesafe database using VSSGET
Hi all,
I keep getting a User not found error when I try to Get a file using this
command line -
ss Get $/version_1/readmeforprod.doc CPCode -GLC:\temp -I- -R -Yvbhatia,sa
Password: sa
User "vbhatia" not found
Also, is there a way to open a sourcesafe database located on a remote
server using VSSGET?
Thanks.
