thanks for you reply. I don't think cvs can only checkout the files which are created or modified after a tagging time.
I do this patch jar for our GUI team. they are using netbeans to develop. the base jar file. they put it on netbeas module directory. and if QA find some bugs, they modify the files and create the new patch jar file in netbeans patch directory. it may be some other reasons they want to have patch jar file.
