catching ejbc and ejbjar errors

I'm trying to write a listener for our global builds, the problem I am
running into is that ejbjar does not throw any informative buidevents, nor
does it seem to fail when ejbc encounters errors.
Can anyone suggest any methods of catching and reporting ejbc and ejbjar
errors, via ant's "listener" idiom?
