Just to throw my two cents into the thread...

Using jikes to compile with Ant (both as the compiler, and in the ejbjar task)
worked for me in JDK 1.2.1, on Windows NT 4.0, with Ant 1.3.

I use VSS, so I can't make any statements as the the CVS tasks.
