I've been told that you cannot <exec> batch files directly but need to invoke CMD or COMMAND on Windows. > Is the exec method the best to use for such an endevour ? See the Cactus project at Jakarta, AFAIK it contains tasks to start and stop a whole bunch of servers, including Tomcat.
