I think it's just a bad idea on Amazon's part--since these recommendations don't cost anything, they're just a new kind of spam--and I expect (hope) they'll figure that out soon and drop it. As for this particular phenomenon (two cross-discommendations for the two Ant books), I think it was just a joke.
