The problem is that the version number is not held in a property file (although it 
could be).  This is one of the anthill 'features' - anthill will maintain a version 
file, containing a version number:

<prefix><buildNo><postfix> 

It searches from the end of the string to find the first numeric portion and 
increments this.  It's this behaviour that I'm trying to emulate with the script.

The <propertyfile> looks very good but I'm not sure the operations could handle such a 
format.

Yes, the property file is good for 'passing' properties back.  I'm now using that 
technique - thanks for the tip.

<buildnumber> again looks useful, but I'm not sure it can emulate the behaviour of
