I would make sure the directories are created before CVS Task is invoked..

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Ant requires a CVS invokable from the command
line.
So you might try to check the following:
a) Do you have a CVS client installed?
b) Is this CVS client invokable from command line?
c) Does this CVS command behave compatible to the original CVS, e.g. take
the
same arguments and options in the same order?
I think, of course, on Windows, best for you would work a copy of the
original
CVS, either compiled for Windows, or the Cygwin version.
d) Is this CVS command reachable from Ant? Is it's directory included in the
PATH?

Maybe this helps, I hope so.

Another point might be:
Try the cvs command on the command line. Are you sure you have both a module
and a repository named FirstJava? The repository command must not point to
the module, it must point to the repository where the module resides.

Bye
