The British embassy in the Albanian capital Tirana has denied 155 visa requests, English media reported Wednesday. An embassy spokesman was quoted in the daily Guardian as saying a majority of the rejections were because of fears of Albanians seeking asylum in England. In all 120 visas were granted for the Albanian contingent, made up of players, Albanian football federation officials, journalists and 20 fans. The English national team can take over the lead in Group 9 of the World Cup qualification campaign from Germany with a victory on Wednesday.
