Ananova. 6 December 2001. Doubts raised over terror suspect's confession. BOMBAY -- Doubts are being cast over the apparent confession of a suspected al Qaida agent planning an attack on London. Mohammed Afroz, who was arrested in India, claims terrorist attacks were also being planned for Australia and India. British intelligence sources are said to have dismissed Afroz's claims, made under "sustained interrogation" during two months in custody. The Daily Telegraph newspaper reports one intelligence source suggesting the confession may have been made under duress. Afroz, 28, said he was part of a team planning to crash two hijacked planes into the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge. A Bombay court has ordered Afroz be held in custody after more preliminary charges were filed against him, included waging war against the nation (India) and creating uncertainty and apprehension in Indian territory. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
