Nativity of Our Lord, 2001/2002
Washington, DC
"When the fullness of time had come,
God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
in order to redeem those who were under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as children." (Gal. 4:4-5)
Mir Bo`ji! Hristos se Rodi!
Divine Peace! Christ is Born!
The Nativity of Christ is a celebration of the incarnation of Truth in
the fullness of time. Accordingly, His Holiness, our Serbian Patriarch
Pavle reminds us: "We cannot choose the time in which we are born and in
which we will live, nor can we always choose the location in which we
will live, however it is up to us if we so choose, wherever we may be,
and under whatever circumstances - to behave as people of God . . ."
Therefore, we, as members of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United
States of America and Canada, are challenged with the task of affecting
our presence by witnessing to truth in the fullness of time. Again,
mindful of the words of His Holiness: "We, who represent the Serbian
people and the Orthodox faith, it is our turn to show that we have risen
to our times . . ." (Prayers and Petitions, pp. 222-223).
In the joy of the Nativity of our Lord and Savior, on behalf of the
Office of External Affairs, thank you for helping fulfill our common
witness to truth.
Gratefully yours in the Incarnate Lord,
Fr. Irinej Dobrijevic
Executive Director

.Convey the voice of grievance, compassion, and unity of the Serbian
American community in the wake of the tragic attacks of September 11,

Metropolitan Christopher to President Bush and his Administration, as
well as joining with faith-based organizations in the issuance of
statements condemning terrorism and promoting peace;

Holiness Patriarch Pavle, His Grace Bishop Artemije of Raska-Prizren,

For over two years the Serbian American community has enjoyed
the benefits of constant representation in our Nation's Capital.
