IS THIS THE FUNNIEST JOKE?
BRITAIN -- In these grim times, we need all the humor --- British
or otherwise --- we can get, but is this Britain's funniest joke?
Scientists investigating the psychology of laughter at the University of
Hertfordshire say it is. They ran 10,000 jokes by more than 100,000
people from 70 countries and this one received 47 percent of the vote.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go camping and pitch their tent
under the stars. The famed detective awakens during the night and says,
"Watson, look up at the stars and tell me what you deduce."
"I see millions of stars," Watson replies, "and even if a few of
those have planets, it's quite likely there are some planets like Earth,
and if there are a few planets like Earth out there, there might also be
life." To which Holmes replied: "Watson, you idiot. Somebody stole our
tent."
