It said witnesses in the Pakistan town of Miramshah saw and heard warplanes attacking Zhawar, across the border in Afghanistan's Paktia province. The United States attacked the same area after the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, when Washington retaliated against what it said were hideouts of Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
