Dear Richard,
I don't know you and have to
assume that you're a decent and honest person.
But your recent apology for the
fascistically-motivated race laws in Latvia are
unpardonable.
When Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov was in the
Baltics just last summer he had occasion to address
the very apartheid regulations I mentioned.
Furthermore, aside from your earlier celebrating
Mikhail Gorbachev as "one of the greatest people of
the 20th Century" when less than 1% of the Russian
electorate voted for him in the last presidential
election and, far more disturbing, your assertion that
you were eager to read any enemy of George Bush "even
if he's a Nazi" bothers me immensely.
Let me ask you, how would you react if your bete noir
George Bush were to, by executive mandate, abolish all
Spansih-speaking schools - private as well as public -
in your state of California?
Has (neo)liberalism sunk so low as to justify the
unjustiable?
Please tell me I've misinterpreted your comments.
