That is my point...that all Russia is capable of anymore, is "speaking out" and as the saying goes, "talk is cheap". The Russians have spoken out strongly and repeatedly, against U.S aggression against Iraq. and it has not deterred the U.S one bit. In Yugoslavia, Russia even disgustingly played the "good cop" in the U.S game of "good cop - bad cop" in "negotiating" the retreat from Kosovo and the NATO /KLA occupation.. The way things are going, with a renewed US military presence in the Philippines -- supposedly to fight terrorism, its support for the Colombian government against the FARC, talk of US and European imperialist actions in the Middle East and Africa -- the western imperialists are on the march and it certainly looks like contradictions between rival major and minor imperialial powers will come to a head with the possibility of war, even world war. "If such a thing occurred, this would not only weaken the anti-terrorist coalition but also help extremist forces which want to ruin this coalition and aim at using contradictions among its members to achieve their goals." Ivanov reiterated Russia's support for lifting sanctions against Iraq, which he described as "counterproductive." He welcomed dialogue between Baghdad and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, started last year. "Any solution should state clearly the prospects and conditions for lifting sanctions as envisaged in the U.N.
