Chinese Vice-Premier Meets ROK Minister

����BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao said Friday China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) should design a blueprint to deepen their friendship in the new century, and tradeand economic cooperation is a major part of the bilateral relations.

����At a meeting with Choi Sung-Hong, foreign and trade minister ofthe ROK, Wen said that this year marks 10th anniversary of Sino-ROK diplomatic ties, and the two countries should sum up the successful experience in developing relations in the past decade and design a blueprint for further development in the 21st century.

����He said that China and the ROK have launched exchange programs this year to push forward bilateral relations and promote mutual understanding and trust.

����China and the ROK have attained remarkable achievements in trade and economic cooperation, which is an important component ofan all-round partnership between the two countries, he said.

����Wen also expressed hope that the two sides could properly settle problems in trade and economic activities in line with the principles of equality and mutual benefit and through consultation.

����China welcomes ROK entrepreneurs to increase cooperation with their Chinese counterparts, and especially be engaged in economic activities and investment in various forms in the western part of the country.

����Choi Sung-Hong said that relations between the ROK and China have developed smoothly, trade and economic cooperation has expanded, and the two countries have become important trading partners.

����The ROK would take the opportunity of the 10th anniversary of Sino-ROK diplomatic relations to maintain high-level exchange of visits and push forward the mutually beneficial cooperation in an all-round manner.

����The two sides also exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsular.

����Wen said that China welcomes and supports the visit of the ROK president's special envoy to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and hopes the visit will be a success.

����China is would like to see relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and the DPRK and Japan improve, he added.

����Choi Sung-Hong expressed gratitude for China's constructive efforts toward safeguarding peace and stability on the Korean Peninsular. Enditem
