Iraq Blasts Israel, U.S. for Israeli Attacks on Palestinians ====================================== Xinhuanet 2002-03-31 03:44:53 ����BAGHDAD, March 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraq on Saturday accused Israel and its key ally the United States of being "war criminals" and called on fellow Arabs and Muslim countries in the world to deal with "the two symbols of international terrorism," the official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported. ����The appeal was made at a joint meeting of the decision-making Revolutionary Command Council and the ruling Arab Baath Socialist Party chaired by President Saddam Hussein, the INA said. ����"The Zionist entity (Israel) and its ally the U.S. prove to be war criminals and they are two evil symbols of international terrorism against the peoples of the world and the whole humanity,"the meeting said. ����The meeting urged the Arabs and Muslim world "to express their attitude in a way commensurate with the crimes committed by Israel and the U.S.," the INA said. ����The meeting also reaffirmed Iraq's support for the Palestinian intifada (uprising) and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, the INA said. ����Meanwhile, the INA reported that demonstrations erupted in the Iraqi capital and other provinces on Saturday to denounce the freshIsraeli incursion. The demonstrators expressed their readiness to continue to support the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation. ����In a dramatic development, Israeli tanks rolled into the West Bank city of Ramallah early Friday morning and Israeli soldiers took control of most of Arafat's compound in the city Friday afternoon. As a result, Arafat and dozens of his top aides were holed up in the compound. ����Earlier on Saturday, a Palestinian official said that Arafat's last mobile phone was out of power, leaving him completely cut off with the outside world. ����The Israeli incursion into Ramallah came after the Israeli cabinet decided Friday morning to launch massive operations to avenge a suicide bombing in the northern Israeli seaside town of Netanya Wednesday evening, in which 21 people were killed. ����The Israeli cabinet also decided to mobilize over 20,000 reservists for the military operations against the Palestinians. ����Saddam, a fierce opponent of Israel, has mobilized a 6-million-strong "Jerusalem Liberation Army" and vowed to fight along with the Palestinians against Israel.
