Xinhua News Agency November 26, 2009 Norway sets up its own Rapid Reaction Force -The Norwegian Army's Rapid Reaction Force will be equipped with artillery and armored vehicles...."We must have the best equipment available in order to win in combat." STOCKHOLM: Norway has set up its own Rapid Reaction Force (RRF) in order to participate in crisis situations in NATO defense activities on short notice, according to news reaching here from Oslo Wednesday. So far, about 800 officers and men have signed up for the new force and they will get special training for fighting in Europe and should be ready to act on short notice, a report from the Norway Post said. The force aims at participating in short-term missions where the situation is chaotic and dangerous, it added. The Norwegian Army's Rapid Reaction Force will be equipped with artillery and armored vehicles, Rune Solberg, Head of the RRF, was quoted as saying.
