Xinhua News Agency November 27, 2009 Polish, U.S. FMs discuss Afghanistan over phone WARSAW: Afghanistan and NATO operations in that country were the topic of a phone conversation held Thursday between Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Clinton and Sikorski expressed the hope for a bilateral meeting during a conference of NATO states' foreign ministers in Brussels on Dec. 3-4. After the conference, a meeting of countries involved in the NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan is to be held in Brussels. Next week the United States are expected to announce its decision on increasing its contingent in Afghanistan. The U.S. secretary of state declared her willingness to pay a visit to Poland in 2010, the Foreign Ministry said. The occasion for this visit may be provided by a ministerial conference organized by the Community of Democracies in connection with the 10th anniversary of its establishment, the ministry said. Poland, responsible for security in Afghan Ghazni province, has deployed some 2,000 soldiers, part of ISAF.
