Georgia, Poland to step up military cooperation

TBILISI: Georgia and Poland are set to deepen their military
cooperation, Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia and his Polish
counterpart Bogdan Klich said after their meeting in Tbilisi on Friday.

"Poland is willing to help Georgia modernize its armed forces. We are
willing to help Georgia in training military staff. We have
established good relations. Poland supports Georgia's NATO membership
and is helping its armed forces on this path," Klich told journalists
after the meeting held behind closed doors.

The Polish minister also met with Georgian President Mikheil
Saakashvili to discuss Poland's role to support Georgia's integration
into NATO, Klich said.

The Georgian-Polish military cooperation has reached a high level,
Akhalaia said. "We have discussed Georgia's integration into NATO and
the forms of Polish help on this path," he said.
