Czech News Agency January 8, 2010 Conference on NATO strategy to be held in Prague Prague: A conference on the strategy of NATO with a Czech contribution to the discussion on the New NATO Strategic Concept drafted by an expert team headed by former U.S. secretary of state Madeleine Albright will be held in Prague on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry told CTK Friday. The conference in the Cerninsky palace, seat of the Czech Foreign Ministry, will be opened by Foreign Minister Jan Kohout and senator Alexandr Vondra, former Czech EU affairs minister. The conference will also be attended by other members of the expert group for the preparation of the new strategic document of NATO. The New NATO Strategic Concept is to be submitted at the next NATO summit to be held in Lisbon at the end of the year. The valid NATO strategy, passed in 1999, is considered largely obsolete. It was drafted after the end of Cold War and it took into account the conflicts in the Balkans in the 1990s. The new concept is to react not only to the danger of terrorism as shown by the 9/11 attacks in the USA, but also to new threats, the cyber attacks and security impact of climate change and provision of energy.
