KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwaiti Army and the U.S. military forces on Sunday started a joint military maneuver as the country's foreign minister said the turbulence in neighboring Iraq could pose threats to Kuwait's security. A statement from the Kuwaiti Army carried by the official KUNA news agency said the drill was aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two forces. The exercise that will last till Jan. 26 would involve live ammunition in day and night time actions, the statement added. Kuwait, the fourth largest exporter of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting countries (OPEC), holds a U.S. military camp and remains a logistics base for the Pentagon to support its troops in neighboring Iraq.
