Associated Press January 25, 2010 US praises German contribution in Afghanistan The U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan is praising Germany's contribution to the NATO's Afghan mission. Richard Holbrooke's comments Monday come as Germany mulls sending troops to bolster its nearly 4,300 soldiers in northern Afghanistan. Holbrooke called Germany's current contribution a "vital, indispensable part of the effort." Holbrooke deflected when asked whether United States is disappointed with reports that Germany will add less than 1,000 troops, saying that he will welcome any additional support. Holbrooke was speaking during a television program recorded in the United States and Europe with the German Minister of Defense Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg. The program, hosted by America Abroad Media and ARD TV Germany, will be broadcast in both countries and on Afghan TV. =========================== Stop NATO http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stopnato Blog site: http://rickrozoff.wordpress.com/ To subscribe, send an e-mail to: [email protected] or [email protected] Daily digest option available. ==============================
