Here's another try:
authors
: auth+=until_separator (',' auth+=until_separator)*
 -> ^(AGAUTHORS $auth)
;

until_separator
: (~SEPARATOR)*
 ;

SEPARATOR : ',' ;

This results again in empty values.
Is there an option I need to toggle to make sure the characters get
accounted for?
