That isn't a problem. It's basically an administrative role: decisions that matter are taken collectively by the PMC. You're the default point of contact between the project and the board (e.g. reporting) and infrastructure (e.g. getting accounts for new committers). Though of course it also brings karma! If you're comfortable with it then you're an obvious candidate, given how many other prospective candidates have ruled themselves out. P.S. I looked at the page in your sig, and I see ESRIN there.
