Which driver did you install and which is running? You can tell by examining the output of aoe-version. If it's version 71, and you only see 4 KiB payloads (you can see the payload size in the output of today's aoe-stat), then the driver is probably choosing to use a smaller size because either the local interface is something like 4200, or else the target's advertised buffer count is eight.
