I can reproduce this on a sid machine, vblade-persist 0.6-2, Linux
foo 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 04:01:41 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux.

I have tried calling vblade directly and the symlink was not created.
(Anything else would have surprised me, having hacked on vblade in the
past...)

The link is created in the script /usr/share/vblade-persist/vblade-run
which is part of vblade-persist. This is clearly a bug: /dev/etherd is
supposed to be used by the AoE initiator (and possibly any support
tools), not by the target.

Please file a bug against the Debian package.

Cheers,
-Hilko
