You may find the "clock scan command" very useful for this sort of
thing.

    % clock format [clock scan "today"]
    Thu Apr 26 16:38:56 CDT 2001
    % clock format [clock scan "today + 6 days"]
    Wed May 02 16:39:03 CDT 2001
